Fabricated PP exhaust duct sections should be handed over with the approved drawing revision, supply list, identified interfaces, agreed material and inspection records, packing information, and open-item status. The required set depends on the purchase order and project acceptance plan, so the buyer should name every required deliverable before quotation and fabrication.

Define the Handover Boundary Before Fabrication Starts

Start by separating what is being supplied from what will be installed, tested, or commissioned by others. A fabricated duct section may be supplied with drawings and agreed inspection evidence, while site erection, fan balancing, airflow testing, and capture performance are not part of the same handover unless the contract explicitly says so. This boundary should match the RFQ and purchase order, not be reconstructed at shipment.

For the RFQ inputs that establish those boundaries, use the PP sheet data-sheet and fabrication guide. For material and fabrication context, see PP sheet for chemical exhaust ductwork. Neither page replaces a project-specific acceptance plan.

Build a Controlled Document Index for Each PP Exhaust Duct Shipment

A document index is the simplest way to prevent a drawing, photograph, label, or inspection note from being detached from the duct section it supports. Give each listed file a document number or controlled filename, revision, date, responsible party, and status. ISO terminology recognizes records as evidence of verification and as a means to formalize traceability; this is a useful general records principle, not a claim that any particular document is mandatory for every QEEHUA order. ISO 9000 terminology provides that background.

Core turnover index fields

  • Project, purchase-order, equipment-area, and shipment identifiers.
  • Document title, revision, issue date, and the party that approved or issued it.
  • Related duct section, spool, interface, or packing-item reference.
  • Required, submitted, accepted, or open status for each deliverable.
  • Clear distinction between supplier documents and records due from the installer, commissioning provider, or project engineer.
Document group What the purchaser should define What it supports
Controlled drawings Approved drawing list, revision, isometric or spool identification, dimensions, and interface references. Confirms which fabricated section is being supplied and where it is intended to connect.
Material and fabrication records Only the project-agreed material identification, submittal, fabrication, or inspection evidence. Links the requested evidence to the supplied component without implying unrequested certificates.
Inspection and release Inspection points, report format, acceptance authority, deviations, and closure requirements. Makes the release decision and remaining exceptions visible.
Packing and delivery Quantity list, packing method, labels, delivery sequence, and any storage or handling instructions required by the project. Helps site teams match delivered items to drawings and installation areas.
System documents by others Named owner for installation, airflow testing, commissioning, and maintenance records. Prevents supplied duct sections from being mistaken for a commissioned extraction system.

Fabrication records are most useful when their drawing and component references remain controlled through packing and handover.

Keep Drawings, Interfaces, and Packing References Aligned

Every duct section should be traceable back to the controlled drawing that defines its geometry and mating condition. Use a consistent section, spool, or assembly reference across the drawing, packing list, labels, and turnover index. If the section is intended to connect to a scrubber, fan, enclosure, or existing duct, record the interface reference and clearly mark whether the mating item is included or by others.

The same discipline applies to base-sheet documentation. The PP sheet data-sheet fabrication guide can help a purchaser identify material information to request, but final project documentation should follow the approved scope and service conditions.

Material information should be referenced in the project’s approved document index, not inferred from a general product image.

Do Not Confuse Component Handover with LEV Commissioning

A fabricated PP duct shipment can be complete while local-exhaust-ventilation commissioning remains a separate site activity. HSE commissioning guidance describes a commissioning report with system identification, operating conditions, test methods, results, performance benchmarks, and relevant test points. Include such a report in a ductwork turnover package only when the contract assigns that scope and the responsible party is named. HSE’s commissioning guidance explains the general distinction.

Where the duct connects to wet treatment equipment, reference the defined handoff location and any separate equipment records. QEEHUA’s PP sheet wet-scrubber material checks page can provide adjacent material context, but it is not a commissioning report for a specific exhaust system.

Project handover should identify supplied equipment sections and their interfaces; it should not assume overall extraction-system acceptance without the designated test records.

Close Open Items Before the Shipment Is Released

Use the final index to list missing documents, drawing supersessions, approved deviations, incomplete inspection points, and the person authorized to close each item. If a required record cannot be provided, record that condition before the shipment is released rather than placing an unverified statement in the turnover file. This makes the package easier for procurement, site installation, and later maintenance teams to use.

PP Sheet Production Context

Document control follows the specific project scope. This QEEHUA video shows a PP sheet production step and gives only general material-production context; it does not validate the supplied duct section, its project records, or extraction-system commissioning.

Preguntas frecuentes

What is the most important handover document for a fabricated PP duct section?

A controlled document index is the most useful starting point because it links each required drawing, inspection record, packing reference, and open item to the identified duct section or shipment.

Should a duct section handover package include a commissioning report?

Include it only when the contract assigns commissioning scope and identifies the responsible party. Component supply records and site LEV commissioning are different deliverables.

How should duct sections be matched to drawings at delivery?

Use the same section, spool, or assembly reference on the controlled drawing, packing list, delivery labels, and turnover index. Record the related interface reference where a section joins other equipment.

Can a general PP product page replace project material records?

No. A product page is general context. The project turnover package should contain only the material and inspection evidence agreed for that order and approved under the project process.

How Should Low-Temperature PP Sheet Welding Be Controlled Before Tank Fabrication?

Low-temperature PP sheet welding should be treated as a controlled fabrication condition, not as a reason to simply turn up the hot-air gun. Before a chemical tank is welded, the fabricator needs to confirm the temperature of the sheet, welding rod, joint area and work environment; keep the joint clean and dry; qualify the selected settings on a representative coupon; and record the inspection evidence. This sequence reduces cold welds, residual stress and repairs that are difficult to explain after the tank has been assembled. Short answer: move cold PP sheet and welding rod into a dry, sheltered work area, allow them to equalize gradually, and do not start production welding until the material and joint are at or above the project procedure’s minimum temperature. QEEHUA’s PP sheet use manual uses 5°C as an internal processing threshold: below 5°C, warm the material indoors to at least 5°C before bending, impact or welding. This is project guidance, not a universal code limit. The approved welding procedure, material grade and equipment instructions remain controlling. Why low-temperature PP sheet welding needs a separate control plan Polypropylene does not respond to a cold workshop in the same way as a metal tank. A cold

What Should a PP Sheet Material Traceability Package Include from Receipt Through Fabrication Handover?

PP sheet material traceability should follow the material through the whole job, not stop when the supplier truck is unloaded. A useful package connects the purchase requirement, supplier lot or batch, receiving inspection, storage location, cut-piece identity, fabrication records, weld records, repairs and final equipment handover. If a panel is cut into several parts, the project should still be able to answer a simple question: which approved PP sheet became this tank wall, liner, duct section or process panel? Short answer: build one controlled traceability chain from receipt to handover. Record the approved grade and thickness, supplier lot or batch, certificate and inspection status; keep the identity attached to sheets and cut parts; link parts to drawings, welds, repairs and inspections; then issue an indexed handover dossier. Supplier documentation is evidence, not a substitute for QEEHUA’s own receiving and fabrication checks. What a PP sheet material traceability package needs to prove The package should prove four things: the material received was the material ordered, the material used in fabrication was released for the job, the finished part can be linked to its drawing and inspection evidence, and any deviation or repair remains visible at handover. This is broader than a

What Should a PP Sheet Weld Test Coupon Prove Before Chemical-Tank Production?

A PP sheet weld test coupon should prove that the proposed material combination, joint detail, equipment and welding procedure can produce a weld suitable for the intended chemical-tank service. It is not just a sample bead: the coupon must be traceable, representative of production, inspected against agreed criteria and linked to a documented release decision. Short answer: Require a PP sheet weld test coupon when the tank duty, joint type, material grade, thickness, welding process or customer specification makes production weld quality a release risk. The coupon should record the actual variables used, show acceptable visual condition, and receive the project-specified mechanical, leak or non-destructive checks before the production hold point is released. When a PP sheet weld test coupon is needed before tank production Use a coupon before production when the weld is part of the tank’s containment boundary or when a failure would affect chemical service, water retention, personnel protection or the project handover. The need is strongest when the fabricator is using a new sheet grade, a new welding rod, a different thickness, an unfamiliar joint geometry or a revised welding machine setup. A coupon may also be required when the customer specification, project code, third-party inspector
